WHO ARE THE GROUPS ON THIS PAGE?
For Grange Big Local, one of the core principals that underlies our work in the community is building capacity in our local area through the redistribution of resources, and by upskilling and empowering local residents to run their own projects that directly respond to the local need that they see every day.
We want to support the creation of resident-led projects that are embedded in our community, leave a legacy, and will remain active for a long time to come.
This page outlines a few of the local groups and organisations that we have supported and helped to grow, as well how you can find out more about them!
Cooking together and sharing food is one of the best ways that we can show solidarity and care for one another. It was this common value that initially brought Grange Big Local and CommUNITY Barnet together with local chef Giuseppe Sollo and East Finchley Neighbourhood Support to create the N2 Food Project: a free, weekly food collection service for anyone in need. No questions asked, no referral needed.
With hundreds of meals given out every week to local residents and grassroots organisations, the service has been a crucial lifeline for our community in these challenging and difficult times.
However, the time has now come for Grange Big Local and CommUNITY Barnet to part ways with East Finchley Neighbourhood Support, as they become fully insured as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in their own right. We are so proud to have joined them on this leg of their journey and are so excited to see what they get up to next!
EAST FINCHLEY NEIGHBOURHOOD SUPPORT.
The increase and enhancement of green spaces in our local area is a key part of all of our community plans and has remained a priority for Grange Big Local's entire existence.
In this vein, we are so proud to have nurtured, provided the seed funding for, and supported the growth of Barnwood N2 - a community forest garden. right at the heart of the GBL area.
Now a Community Interest Company (CIC) in their own right, they have been doing great work in the community with marginalised young people and local families, providing a safe, green haven for those who don't readily have access to nature in their every day lives. In fact, many of our GBL Community Grants projects will be taking place in the woodland space too!
Make sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest updates and, if you haven't already, check out their article on the Local Trust site and find out the full. story on how Barnwood N2 came to be.
